Hello, I’m Shirelle — florist, dreamer, and mum to three beautiful girls.

Flora in the Wild first began back in 2018, when my love for flowers grew into a small creative business. But, like the seasons, life shifted — and for a while, I stepped away from floristry to focus on my girls and on finding my own rhythm again.

When I moved to Maketū, something in me began to bloom again too. The sea air, the slower pace, the wild beauty of this place — it all reignited my love for flowers and for creating with my hands. What began as a few stems gathered from the garden soon grew into something much bigger: a quiet return to what feels most like home.

Now, from my little studio by the coast, I create floral pieces that reflect the beauty of imperfection — gentle, nostalgic, and a little wild. I use flowers grown by local growers and those gathered seasonally from my own garden, working slowly and thoughtfully, always guided by nature.

As a single mum, my days are full and sometimes chaotic, but flowers remind me — and my girls — that beauty can grow anywhere. Even in the in-between.

Flora in the Wild is my love letter to the slow, the simple, and the deeply felt.
